A red tide bloom looming offshore since Hurricane Milton is now prompting health warnings in parts of Southwest Florida. In particular, areas around Sanibel Island and Naples showed high numbers of red tide algae in recent testing. There are some reports of fish kills and respiratory irritation, too. Recent onshore winds moved the bloom closer to beaches in places like Sarasota County, Lee County and Collier County. You can check the status on the state's Red Tide Website.
