Storms have delayed the first round of qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 on Saturday.

Heavy rain significantly reduced visibility at the track on Saturday morning, and thunder and lightning were in the area, as reported by Rich Nye of WTHR. Full field practice was rained out, and qualifying was supposed to start at 11 a.m., but it is getting pushed back until the storms clear.

All 33 cars will run laps during the first round of qualifying and spots 16-33 will be set. Those who qualify in the first round will not have to requalify in the second round. More on this procedure can be found here.

The Indy Star reported that qualifying would need to start by 5:30 p.m. for the first round to be completed today, as it takes about three hours. If not, all of qualifying would be pushed back to Sunday morning, making for a long day of qualifying ahead of the iconic race at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 24.
