A 13-year-old Texas boy survived being struck by lightning ... in his own bedroom.

On Tuesday, Vlad Skuridin was playing video games in his Houston-area home while it stormed outside, as reported by KRPC. And then suddenly ... BOOM.

"Super gigantic boom," Vlad told KTRK. "I got super scared. I jumped up. I also got a shock on my stomach, so I just started screaming."

'I thought I was gonna die'

The energy from the lightning bolt apparently traveled into the house and could have shocked anyone touching something connected to the electrical system, KTRK reported. A metal part of Vlad's desk was touching his skin.

"I honestly thought I was gonna die," Vlad told KRPC.

Vlad said he also felt tightness in his chest immediately after the strike, but he is OK. EMS evaluated him at the scene and determined he did not need to go to the hospital.

"I did know that it could happen, but didn't really think it could happen to me," Vlad told KTRK. "It's like one in a million or something."

The lightning also caused a small fire in the family's attic and damaged a wall in the home. Insurance reps inspected the damage and told the family that there was evidence of two strikes: one to a tree in their yard and one to the house.

Vlad is grateful to be alive and that his family wasn't hurt.

“Anything can happen at any moment," he told KRPC. "You just got to be ready for it. You got to be nice to everybody. It can end whenever."
