Meet Max, (15, left) and Pete (14, right), adoptive brothers originally from Oklahoma. Their owner, Wally, wrote us that Pete, his mother and siblings were found under his deck in 2012.

"Apparently someone had dumped them in our neighborhood," Wally said. "I kept Pete and the mother (Grace) and adopted the others out."

After Grace died, it left Pete alone, and Wally wanted an orange cat to go with his black cat to match the colors of his alma mater, Oklahoma State University. Pete and Max have helped make Wally feel at home over a series of recent moves, most recently to the mountains near San Diego.

"Max is always quite chill about it all, and one of the smartest cats that has ever owned me," Wally wrote. "Pete can be scared of his own shadow at times, but has relaxed some with the moves out here, and become more social."
