A cat mom showed her black cat‘s transformation from a tiny little stray kitten to a beautiful cat living in a happy home, and the internet is obsessed with her.

In a touching video posted to TikTok, the cat mom introduced the world to her adorable black cat named Yupi and showed her glow-up “from chasing me as a stray, to being my baby at home.” The video started out with a clip of tiny Yupi as a little kitten, chasing after her mom in the streets at night. Then it transitioned to a clip of present-day Yupi, all adorable and grown up, while she posed for the camera.

“I still can’t believe this is the same baby 🥹🤍,” Yupi’s mom wrote in the video’s caption. “From a tiny stray chasing me to my big, fluffy baby now. Yupi really had the best glow-up.”

How to help a stray kitten on the street

If you ever find a stray kitten on its own, it might be tempting to take the kitten home to look after, but that’s usually not the best course of action at first.

According to Alley Cat Allies, sometimes the best thing you can do for a stray kitten is to leave it alone. “Even if you see kittens alone, it is more than likely their mother is nearby,” they explained. “This best practice involves allowing the mother cat to care for her kittens in their outdoor home.”

It’s especially important not to take a kitten away from their mothers especially if they’re less than eight weeks old. But there are some circumstances in which it’s best to intervene and ensure a kitten is safe and sound.

If a kitten is 8 weeks or older and does not rely on their mother for milk and is eating on their own, Alley Cat Allies recommends “taking them to a veterinary clinic for spay or neuter” as soon as possible since “spaying or neutering kittens when they are 8 weeks old and at least 2 pounds is ideal for their health and well-being.”

Once a kitten is spayed, you can either return them to their outdoor home or foster and adopt them.
