The full Sturgeon Moon will slip 96% into Earth's shadow during a deep partial lunar eclipse overnight Thursday into Friday (Aug. 27-28, 2026). It won't quite be a blood moon, but skywatchers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the U.K. and across Europe and Africa will watch the moon dim and glow reddish-orange during an eclipse lasting 5 hours and 38 minutes. It's the deepest lunar eclipse anywhere in the world since September 2024, and the best one until a total lunar eclipse on Dec. 31, 2028.
