Rocky Mountain National Park earns its place in our series on the best national parks to visit this fall for one reason: You can hear it before you see it. Through September into October, bull elk bugle across the park's Colorado valleys, their calls carrying over meadows framed by aspens turned brilliant gold. It's the park's best wildlife show of the year, as bighorn sheep, moose and deer all turn highly active as temperatures drop.
