Snow has hit the Tetons.

It was only a light dusting, but a little less than a half-inch of snow blessed Wyoming’s Teton Mountains.

As of 9:15 local time on October 12, 2026, the summit weather station at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort read 29°F with 98% humidity.

“The kind of cold, still conditions that let early snow settle in and stay put up high,” Eric Henderson said in an email.

The timing of this light dusting is pretty crucial. High-alpine snowpack starts to take shape in the Tetons in October. Everything that happens now will make the scheduled opening day on November 27, 2026 that much more pleasant.

“A calm first storm gives that foundation a real chance to stick instead of blowing off the ridgelines,” Henderson said. “Every inch that lands now is groundwork for the season ahead.”
