Are you dreading spending another cold, snowy Christmas at home? Consider one of these places with reliable warm, dry weather at Christmastime.

The Maldives

Nobody wants a rainy vacation in paradise, which is why Christmas is the perfect time to visit the Maldives. December is likely to begin the dry season in this Indian Ocean island nation, and the warm water temperatures invite you for a private villa or relaxing beach stay.

While the dry season brings ideal weather, it is also the most popular time to visit, so booking resorts and transportation well in advance is essential. Expect daytime temperatures around 85 degrees with calm waters perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving and private boat excursions.

Don't want to fly halfway around the world? Mexico has beautiful beaches and warm, dry weather in late December, too. With hurricane season officially ending on Nov. 30, it's the beginning of the dry season, and consistently sunny in places like Cancun.

December brings comfortable average highs around 82 degrees and lower humidity compared to the summer months. Beyond the resort zone, this time of year offers ideal conditions for exploring nearby Mayan ruins like Chichen Itza and Tulum without the intense heat.

Costa Rica

Don't overlook Central American destinations like Costa Rica, which offers nice beaches like Mexico but also has rainforest and ziplining adventures for thrill seekers. The dry season begins in December there, too, giving you excellent conditions for whatever outdoor activities you want to try.

Known locally as the dry summer season, December features lush green landscapes left behind by the recent rains alongside clear, sunny skies. It is an optimal window for spotting wildlife in Manuel Antonio National Park or hiking around the Arenal Volcano before peak crowds arrive.

Want something more festive than the beach? Try Dubai, which combines a mild, dry desert winter with holiday shopping festivals and skyline lights.

With daily temperatures lingering in the pleasant mid-70s to low 80s, outdoor activities are at their prime, from desert safaris and dune bashing to al fresco dining along the marina. December also features major national celebrations and high-end shopping sales throughout the city.

Looking for a cheaper Christmas vacay? Consider a country in southeast Asia like Thailand or Vietnam for budget-friendly travel and warmer, drier weather.

In Thailand, places like Phuket and the southern islands experience clear skies and warm seas, while northern regions like Chiang Mai offer comfortably cool evenings perfect for night markets. Vietnam similarly offers pleasant conditions in the south, making both countries easy to combine into a single itinerary.
