What I Do

Senior Graphics Meteorologist and Weather Producer

How I Got To The Weather Company

I started in aviation working for Continental Airlines before, during, and after college. I began my college education as an aviation major earning my pilot's license while at Ohio State. Since aviation is so closely related to weather, I ended up pivoting to a meteorology career and was hired a few months after graduation.

I have been a part of The Weather Channel team on every major storm, including hurricanes Katrina and Sandy and all the winter storms, floods and everything in between.

I’ve been a trainer, a met ops specialist, an applications engineer and a weather producer. On the TV side, I worked on "Wake Up With Al," "Weather Center Live," Weekend Recharge," and "Weekend View," and was an expert weather producer for all shows including "AMHQ."

I am a storm chaser and I really love being in the field with a podcast group I co-host called Storm Front Freaks. I have a strong passion for anything aviation and weather-related.

My career objective is to do things that are meaningful not only to myself, but that can contribute in a positive way to others.

What I Love About Working for The Weather Company

I like working for a company that is so well known and has such a large reach to the public. Knowing what I do could possibly help someone make a more informed decision, or give them the knowledge to make better decisions during a life-threatening situation, brings me a lot of satisfaction. During my tenure, I have traveled the world training customers on our products. I have been able to travel to most of the U.S. states including Hawaii and all the way around the globe to Thailand.

Favorite Weather Areas

Storm chasing, tropical weather and winter weather.

Favorite Core Weather Memory

My favorite thing I ever got to do with the company was a live segment with the fire department to explain how firefighters deal with not only summer heat but also the added heat of a fire. They let me put on all their equipment and go into a live fire at their training facility. I would say it was the coolest thing I ever got to do, but it was quite hot.

Memorable/Current Work

The most memorable storm I ever covered was Hurricane Katrina. It was so impactful and devastated so many people, and it confirmed to me that what I do here is important. I want to be able to help inform people about future storms and possibly even feel like I may have saved lives.
