Der North-Rim-Teil des Grand-Canyon-Nationalparks in den USA wird wegen Schneefalls erst im Juni wieder für Besucher geöffnet. Indem die Eröffnung von Mitte Mai auf den 2. Juni verschoben werde, sei mehr Zeit, um die Hauptstraße zu dem Gebiet zu räumen und die Besuchereinrichtungen des Parks zu öffnen, teilten Parkvertreter mit.

Im nördlichen Teil des US-Staats Arizona hat es über den Winter viel geschneit. Nach Parkangaben gab es am North Rim seit Oktober Schneemengen von insgesamt mehr als 6,35 Metern. Auf Fotos des Nationalparks war zu sehen, wie Gegenden unpassierbar waren.
