Holi Showers Bring Down Air Pollution Levels in Delhi, Air Quality Improves to 'Satisfactory' Category

After isolated rains over Delhi-NCR on Holi afternoon, the overall air quality in Delhi improved to the "satisfactory" category on Thursday.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 90, while the PM 2.5 and PM 10 were recorded under the "satisfactory" category at 71 and 90, respectively.

As per SAFAR data, the lowest AQI was recorded in IIT Delhi at 59, followed by Airport T3 and Lodhi Road at 65 and 68, respectively. Meanwhile, Noida's AQI stood at 81.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good"; 51 and 100 "satisfactory"; 101 and 200 "moderate"; 201 and 300 "poor"; 301 and 400 "very poor"; and 401 and 500 "severe".

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) report, the sky will remain partly cloudy during the daytime, and the maximum temperature may hover around 30°C on Thursday. At the same time, the minimum temperature settled at 16.7°C, three notches above the season's average.
