...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM CST THIS EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN COOK, CENTRAL WILL AND NORTHERN LAKE IN COUNTIES... At 702 PM CST, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area and flooded. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hammond, Gary, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Highland, Munster, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood, Matteson and Mokena. Emergency management reports roads flooded in Munster, Indiana. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring.
