Areas of dens fog will limit visibility to a mile or less at times, especially for near shore water and the Great South Bay. If you must navigate, proceed with caution. Reduce your speed, and keep a lookout for other vessels, buoys, and breakwaters. Use proper fog signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use your radar and compass. If not equipped with radar, you should consider seeking safe harbor.
