At 237 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 18 nm northwest of Bay St. Louis to near Kenner, moving east at 35 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots and large hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in injury and damage to boats...vessels and oil rigs. Locations impacted include... Waveland, Lake Pontchartrain/Lake Maurepas, Orleans Marina, Pass Christian, Lake Borgne, Mandeville, Eden Isle, Bay St. Louis, Long Beach, Rigolets, The Mid Point Of The Causeway Bridge, Kenner, and Lacombe. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for southeastern Louisiana...and southern Mississippi. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects. At 213 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 11 miles south of Madisonville to 20 miles south of Amelia. Movement was east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... New Orleans, Kenner, Houma, Thibodaux, Cut Off, Metairie, Hahnville, Marrero, Chalmette, Galliano, Avondale, Larose, Harvey, East New Orleans, Timberlane, Belle Chasse, Laplace, Jefferson, Gretna, and Harahan.
