Winter Storm Flynn Was Heaviest Snow in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 7 Years

Estimated snowfall over the Plains on Dec. 13, 2020, from Winter Storm Flynn

A quick-hitting winter storm blanketed parts of Oklahoma and the Ozarks with snow on the second weekend of December 2020.

Named Winter Storm Flynn by The Weather Channel, this fast-moving storm dumped up to 6 to 7 inches of snow from just north of Oklahoma City to the south Tulsa metro area on Dec. 13.

This was the heaviest snowstorm in Tulsa in seven years, according to the National Weather Service.

Up to 6 inches of snow was reported in the Ozarks of northwest Arkansas.

Some of the heaviest totals were in southwest Kansas, where up to 14 inches of snow was measured.

By Dec. 14, the system swept quickly into the East, where most amounts were generally an inch or two from West Virginia to western Massachusetts.
