(FORECAST: Finn's Snow And Wind)

Happening now: Snow, gusty winds and rain are spreading through the Northeast. Snow is changing over to rain from south to north across most locations, but some snow is expected west of the Appalachians and along the mountain chain by Wednesday morning.

Flooding rain expected: A strong cold front will spread across the Northeast with heavy rainfall through early Wednesday morning.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches (locally higher) are expected along the Interstate 95 corridor.

As a result, flooding is possible in parts of the Northeast, especially in locations where the ground is already saturated and where rain falls on fresh snowpack from Winter Storm Ember.

The National Weather Service has posted flood watches for these areas and for where heavy rainfall is expected.

Highs winds will accompany the heavy rain: Stronger gusts between 40 to 60 mph will spread through the Northeast into early Wednesday. Power outages and some tree damage is possible.

Coastal flooding is also a significant concern: The strong southerly winds from this storm will also produce inundation of seawater along coastal areas from the Jersey Shore into southern New England.

Minor, moderate to locally major coastal flooding is possible with the Wednesday morning high tide in these areas.
