More Heavy Rain Expected For Mid-Atlantic

May 14, 2025

The stubborn area of low pressure that has brought days of rain to the Southeast and mid-Atlantic will finally begin to lift out today. However, another day of rain and potential flash flooding remains for portions of the mid-Atlantic, including Washington, D.C. The biggest threat for flash flooding extends from central Pennsylvania to eastern North Carolina. While the rain is beneficial, we could see rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. This will make the already saturated region even more vulnerable to flash flooding. We also can’t rule out the possibility of a severe storm popping up throughout the day, with an isolated tornado or two possible. Thursday will bring the last day of soaking rain before the system exits the region completely. Watch this video to see where the biggest flood potential will be for today.
