Rain And Wind Likely For Most, Wintry Mix Possible For A Few

October 25, 2025

A homegrown, non-tropical threat is on the table for millions across the East Coast this weekend into next week. The squally weather will begin late this weekend for the eastern U.S., as a southern slider makes its way from Texas to the Carolinas. This system, after delivering severe weather to Texas, will bring a widespread 1-3 inches of rainfall across the Deep South. As the southern slider exits the Carolinas early next week, a new storm system will develop across the Tennessee Valley mid-week, ejecting to the northeast in the second half of the work week. While some details still need to be ironed out, soaking rainfall and gusty winds will be likely from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. Across the higher elevations of the Appalachians, rain may occasionally mix with sleet and snow.
