Weekend Nor’easter Targets East Coast

October 9, 2025

An area of low pressure is expected to develop off the Southeast coast late Friday turning into a nor’easter this weekend. Strong onshore winds will lead to moderate to potentially major coastal flooding and beach erosion, which is going to be made worse by the king tides. This nor’easter will be a slow mover, so persistent heavy rain could lead to flooding. Large waves, rough surf and a high risk for rip currents will make it dangerous to be at the beaches from Florida to Maine.
