This Sleeping Giant Awakens Each Fall In North Carolina

The cliffs of Whiteside Mountain in the Great Smoky Mountains near Cashiers, North Carolina, were created by millions of years of erosion. Each fall and late winter into early spring, a sleeping giant awakens in an amazing natural phenomenon visible from a roadside lookout. It’s called the Shadow of the Bear.
