Every year in early spring, people all over the world head outdoors to see the cherry blossoms beginning to bloom. Whether it’s at the National Mall in Washington D.C. or at a cherry blossom festival in Japan, the pink-flowered trees are often an excuse for people to travel.

But for 2020, COVID-19 has put a halt on travel plans. The Transportation Security Administration recently stated they had the lowest number of screenings in a decade.

While there is no national quarantine in the U.S., many states and cities have implemented quarantine and stay-at-home measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. Currently, the U.S. has surpassed China and Italy with the highest number of confirmed cases.
