The tropical paradise of Paros, Greece, sits in the Aegean Sea, about halfway between Santorini and Athens. It's hot here, and Paros is famous for its beaches, particularly Kolymbithres, where you'll find large granite blocks that have been shaped by the water and wind for centuries, explains Greeka.com.

Designer Carolyn Chadwick was asked to design a garden for a seaside home on Paros. She used the island's romance with the sea as inspiration. On her website, Chadwick explains "the main frame is designed in the shape of waves combined with symmetrical lines mirroring the waves again and again."

The flowers and plants she incorporated mirror the color scheme of the sea, with lots of white and different hues of blue; she added splashes of pink and red for accent.

The plants and grasses she choose are species that can thrive in Paros' hot, dry climate, according to Gardenista.
