West, north, and east facing reefs of the Marianas. For the Coastal Flood Watch, northern shorelines

説明

...HIGH SURF WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST THIS AFTERNOON ALONG WEST, NORTH, AND EAST FACING REEFS... ...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON ALONG NORTHERN SHORELINES... ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ALONG WEST, NORTH, AND EAST FACING REEFS... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PM CHST WEDNESDAY ALONG WEST, NORTH, AND EAST FACING REEFS... WHAT...Large breaking waves of 10 to 13 feet, up to 15 feet along north facing reefs. Dangerous rip currents. Possible coastal inundation along northern shorelines. WHERE...West, north, and east facing reefs of the Marianas. For the Coastal Flood Watch, northern shorelines. WHEN...For the High Surf Warning and Coastal Flood Watch, until 4 PM ChST this afternoon. For the High Surf Advisory, from 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM ChST Wednesday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Wednesday afternoon. IMPACTS...Some roads may be closed. Low lying property may be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion can be expected. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long period NNW swell from a low pressure system near Japan and long-period NE swell from a Kona Low northwest of Hawai'i continue to produce hazardous surf and a high risk of rip currents along west, north, and east facing reefs. The main concern will be north facing reefs, where surf can reach up to 15 feet through this afternoon. Hazardous surf of at least 9 feet along west and north reefs, and of at least 12 feet along east facing reefs will continue through at least Wednesday afternoon. Surf is expected to first fall below hazardous levels along west facing reefs as the westerly component of the primary swell energy diminishes. Coastal inundation along northern shorelines of 1 to 3 feet is possible through this afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Marianas Coastal Waters

説明

...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST WEDNESDAY... ...HAZARDOUS SEAS WARNING HAS EXPIRED... WHAT...Seas 9 to 12 feet expected. WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters. WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Wednesday afternoon. IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Recent altimetry passes reveal combined sea heights around 12 to 13 feet to the west of Marianas coastal waters, around 1 to 2 feet above guidance. Seas remain elevated due to large north to northwest swell from a low pressure system east of Japan as well as northeast swell from a strong Kona Low north-northwest of Hawai'i. Sea heights are beginning to relax, and the Hazardous Seas Warning was allowed to expire, replaced by a Small Craft Advisory in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Seas may fall below levels hazardous to small craft (10 feet) by Wednesday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.
