A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake rocked Japan’s northeastern coast Monday afternoon local time. Buildings swayed and waves surged as tsunami warning sirens blared, warning people in at least 11 towns to evacuate and seek higher ground. The epicenter of the quake was about 60 miles off Miyako, off the coast of Sanriku. Tsunami warnings covered parts of Iwate, Hokkaido and Aomori prefectures. Here’s the latest.
