A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck in southern Mexico on Friday morning. The event occurred near the town of San Marcos, which is about 50 miles east of Acapulco. The earthquake even interrupted the Mexican president’s first press briefing of the year, causing the auditorium there to be evacuated.
