Strong thunderstorms dumped between 3-4 inches of rain Saturday evening across the Washington D.C. suburbs. The estimated rainfall rate was 1-2 inches in 30 minutes, which prompted multiple flash flood warnings in parts of Maryland and Virginia. A flash flood emergency was issued in Montgomery County, Maryland where there were reports of water rescues and vehicles stranded in places like Silver Spring, Chevy Chase and Takoma Park.
