An Air Canada Express jet collided with a fire truck on a runway late Sunday at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport. The two pilots aboard the jet were killed, according to Kathryn Garcia, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. More than 40 passengers and crew members were taken to a hospital. The cause of the crash has not been determined. The airport will remain closed for much of Monday, with more than 500 flights canceled. Delays and cancellations will be felt throughout the U.S. travel system, which was already experiencing hourslong delays in security lines because of a shortage of TSA agents.
