Every dog has its day, and for some particularly radical pooches, it came on Saturday, Aug. 2, when the annual World Dog Surfing Championships took place near San Francisco.

Thousands of human spectators gathered on Pacifica State Beach to watch the cool canines ride the waves solo, in pairs, or with the company of a human. The dogs were judged based on balance, time on their boards and any tricks they performed.
