First Responders Save Rebel The Dog From Indiana Pond

(Noblesville Fire Department)

Fine weather in central Indiana last week may have played a part in a Noblesville dog named Rebel’s decision to swim out a little too far in a local pond. Luckily for Rebel, first responders from the Noblesville Fire Department were quickly on the scene to help out.

On Thursday, the department posted on social media about the rescue, referring to Rebel as “our four-legged Olympic hopeful.” Summing up the canine’s predicament, they wrote, “It was the perfect day for a long-distance swim, and by long, we mean he really committed to the training. When it became clear Rebel wasn’t planning to head back to shore anytime soon, Noblesville Engine 76 and Westfield Station 83 accepted his Challenge and rowed out to retrieve him."

Setting out in an inflatable rescue boat, rescuers were able to paddle to Rebel’s position and pull him from the water. “Thankfully, our furry athlete is safe and sound,” they wrote, before expressing hope that perhaps in the future, Rebel might stick with land sports.
