Paris Goes To The (Weiner) Dogs

The sixth-annual Paris Sausage Walk (Marche des Teckels) happened last weekend, featuring hundreds of "saucisses sur pattes" (sausages on legs) parading next to the river Seine.

If you happened to be in Paris this weekend, you could have been forgiven for thinking that the City of Light was going to the dogs. And you would have been absolutely right, because there were hundreds of them and they were all sporting the same distinctive hot dog silhouette!

The annual Paris Sausage Walk (Marche des Teckels) returned for its sixth iteration with a vengeance on Sunday, turning the streets into what can only be described as the world's most adorable traffic jam. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an army of dachshunds (or as the French affectionately call them, "saucisses sur pattes" (sausages on legs)) waddled their way down the David Ben Gourion esplanade along the banks of the river Seine near the Eiffel Tower.

The event wasn't just about the spectacle of seeing more dachshunds in one place than most people encounter in a lifetime. The Paris Sausage Walk also supported the nonprofit Association des Teckels Sans Doux Foyer, which supports the rescue, care and adoption of dachshunds and other small dogs.

Dog owners and curious Parisians alike lined the streets, cameras at the ready, as this parade of portable pups created what might just be the most "a-dog-able" traffic jam in history.
