A missing dog was safely rescued from a storm drain in London, Kentucky, last week thanks to the combined efforts of local emergency responders and a vigilant community member.

The London Fire Department and London-Laurel Rescue Squad responded to reports of a dog trapped in the drainage system. The animal had been missing for several days before being discovered by a citizen who immediately contacted authorities.

Emergency crews worked together to carefully extract the dog from the storm drain without injury.

"This is a great example of teamwork between our emergency responders and the community to help those in need — even our four-legged friends," the London Fire Department said in a statement to social media.

The department emphasized the importance of community involvement, particularly thanking the citizen whose quick action in reporting the trapped animal was crucial to the successful outcome.

The rescued dog has been reunited with its family, and is reported to be in good health following the ordeal.
