Winter Storm Benji is bringing rare snowfall to the Southeast on Friday, and will continue northward throughout the weekend. Benji makes for a two-thousand mile swath of snow from Texas to New England.

College Station, Texas, saw five inches of snow on Friday morning. Benji's snowfall is slowing down in Texas Friday morning and moving toward the Gulf Coast and the Mid-Atlantic. Mississippi and Alabama may see one to three inches by Friday evening, as well as Atlanta, Georgia. Asheville, North Carolina, is expected to see three to five inches by Friday evening. Areas south of Atlanta will see a half inch to two inches of rain.

Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is under a winter weather advisory, while Jackson, Mississippi, is under a winter weather warning. Biloxi, Mississippi, Birmingham, Alabama, as well as to the southwest and northeast of Birmingham and Montgomery are under a winter weather advisory. The advisory stretches up to Atlanta, Georgia, as well.

Winter Storm Benji is likely to bring the first accumulating snowfall to parts of the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast Saturday morning to Saturday evening. The eastern shore of Maryland could see as much as eight inches to a foot of snow on Satuday. Salisbury, Maryland, is expected to see the highest snow total.

Atlantic City, New Jersey, could see five to eight inches, as well as Boston, Massachusetts. Washington, D.C., can expect one to three inches, while the rest of the Northeast, from eastern Pennsylvania, central to northern New Jersey, and New York to Maine will likely see three to five inches this weekend.
