Numerous crashes were reported on roads in Wisconsin as the storm got going Wednesday, and in Michigan, more than 100 flights were canceled.

Thousands of students were given the day off or were dismissed early in metro Detroit because of the storm, and many of those cancellations carried over to Thursday.
