Storms carved a devastating 100-plus-mile-long path through parts of Mississippi on Friday.

Photos show devastating damage after tornadoes ripped through several southern communities Friday night. The storms are being blamed for at least 21 deaths in Mississippi and one in Alabama.

Widespread damage has been reported in Silver City in Humphreys County as well as Rolling Fork in Sharkey County. A majority of the victims were killed in Sharkey County, where dozens more were injured, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

T​he storms in Mississippi carved a 100-plus-mile-long path through the communities of Rolling Fork, Silver City, Tchula, Winona and Amory, damaging or destroying about 2,000 homes. Preliminary ratings have found a tornado in the area that stayed on the ground for over an hour to be an EF4.

Tornadoes, or suspected tornadoes, were also reported in Alabama and Georgia over the weekend. The National Weather Service is continuing to survey and determine how many tornadoes struck the South Friday night.

More than 23,000 people were still without power in Mississippi on Monday, days after the tornadoes struck, according to PowerOutage.us. An additional 11,000 were without power in Alabama.

The severe weather is not over. Threats of severe weather and floods are affecting the South again Monday and Tuesday, with the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
