P​hotos show damage in the Midwest and South after tornadoes struck Tuesday and early Wednesday.

A​t least five people were killed and several others injured after a tornado struck Bollinger County, Missouri, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. All of the fatalities took place n the Glenallen area of southeast Missouri, and the nearby communities of Marble HIll and Grassy reported damage to homes and buildings as well.

Tuesday brought a brief EF2 tornado to Colona, Illinois, collapsing roofs tossing debris. The National Weather Service found that the tornado had peak winds up to 120 mph. Severe storms tore through the northern part of the state, bringing hail and damaging winds.

A​ pair of tornadoes were also reported Tuesday evening in southern Iowa and western Illinois, with one causing damage near Table Grove and Lewiston, Illinois.

T​he outbreak is expected to continue to bring damaging winds, hail and tornadoes through Wednesday in parts of the Great Lakes, Midwest and South.
