Photos Show Damage Left Behind After Virginia Beach's Weekend Tornado

R​esidents of Virginia Beach, Virginia, are still cleaning up after an EF3 tornado struck the coastal city on Sunday evening, damaging at least 115 homes, according to NBC12.com.

A state of emergency was declared for the area. This was the first EF3 tornado on record to hit the city.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

“We are indeed grateful that there was not a loss of life or anyone injured, and for that, we are most thankful,” Mayor Bobby Dyer said in a press conference Monday. “If you take a look at the devastation that’s out there, it’s indeed a miracle.”

Photos show major damage to homes and downed trees as well as scattered debris.

Area schools were closed Monday, but according to the City of Virginia Beach website, the city was under normal operating conditions Tuesday.
