S​evere storms struck the Southern Plains Thursday evening, killing several people and leaving a trail of widespread damage.

T​he town of Perryton, Texas, was hit especially hard when a tornado tore through the middle of the city, destroying numerous structures. At least three people were killed in the town.

A​nd it wasn't just the Southern Plains – several tornadoes caused damage in parts of the Midwest and one person died when a severe storm felled a tree onto a person in Escambia County, Florida. A Mississippi man when a tree fell on him during stormy weather early Friday.
