P​hotos show damage to a tree service building in McCook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, after tornadoes hit the area Wednesday evening. The roof was torn off of the Skyline Motel in the town, according to the Associated Press.

In other images, menacing clouds loom over the Chicago skyline late that same day.

D​amage was also reported in the La Grange and Countryside areas in Cook County, where a tornado warning covered the entire county, including the Chicago metro-area. The National Weather Service declared a "particularly dangerous situation," which is issued when a tornado is very likely or already causing damage on the ground.

A​ tornado touched down near Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, prompting passengers to shelter in tunnels as the severe weather struck. More than 1,000 flights were canceled or delayed throughout Wednesday due to the storms.

T​ornadoes were also reported in the Chicago suburbs of Elgin and Barrington, Illinois.

Tornado watches were in effect for parts of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio as well on Wednesday. The NWS will survey damage from a possible tornado that struck Wednesday night in the southern Michigan town of Colon, about 30 miles from Kalamazoo.

T​here were no reports of any injuries or deaths as of Thursday morning in any of Wednesday's severe weather.
