P​hotos show roofs torn off of homes and buildings after an EF-3 tornado struck northeastern North Carolina Wednesday afternoon. One of the buildings damaged was a Pfizer plant in the town of Rocky Mount, with huge amounts of medicine likely destroyed at the facility.

M​ore than a dozen people were reported injured and 89 structures were damaged in Nash County. Neighboring Edgecombe County also reported damaged and destroyed buildings and homes as well as injuries, some serious.

T​he National Weather Service confirmed in a tweet that the damage was consistent with an EF3 tornado. The tornado tore through 16.5 miles and produced peak winds of 150 mph.
