H​ilary entered California as a tropical storm Sunday evening, the first time since 1997 that a system was still categorized as a tropical storm as it crossed into the Golden State.

A​nd this storm had serious impacts on Southern California, particularly its heavy rain. For hours on end, it rained heavily in areas that are normally very dry, and roads were inundated quickly.

H​ilary closed roads and schools in Southern California, and canceled hundreds of flights. Thousands of residents were told to stay off the roads, and several Major League Baseball games were rescheduled due to the conditions.
