Photos Show The Aftermath Of Deadly Severe Storms In Great Lakes

P​hotos show the mess left behind after severe storms walloped the Great Lakes region overnight Thursday into Friday. The storms spawned at least one tornado and left at least two people dead in Michigan.

T​rees and debris littered roads and yards in parts of Michigan, including Grand Rapids, Comstock and Webberville.

One death occurred on Interstate 96 when a tornado struck, leading to a pileup of more than 25 vehicles near Lansing, Michigan, according to the Associated Press. Several others were injured in the accident.

A​nother person died in Lansing when a tree fell onto a home, the Lansing State Journal reported.

F​irefighters in Grand Rapids reported that they responded to 194 alarms between about 8 p.m. Thursday into Friday morning as severe storms struck. Images from the city show a church steeple on fire after lightning struck the building, as well as homes sprouting flames and billowing smoke.

T​here were reports of damage and trees down in Ohio as well, including near Cleveland. The NWS confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down around midnight Friday in the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County area.
