Storm Daniel brought major flooding to coastal Libya, where at least 11,300 people were killed.

The worst impacted area was the city of Derna, which was declared a disaster zone and remains inaccessible after the storm. Images out of Derna show major flood damage from overturned cars to mud-covered roads and destroyed buildings.

According to the AP, entire residential areas in Derna were washed out along the river that runs through the city's center, and the failure of two nearby dams was to blame. More than 10,100 people remain missing, The Associated Press reported.

The Libyan government declared a state of emergency Saturday before the storm made landfall.
