A deadly atmospheric river struck California, dumping massive amounts of rain over several days on a very flood-prone region.

T​he flooding triggered a state of emergency, and in the areas where flooding and mudslides were the biggest concern, evacuations were ordered for some residents. At least seven people died in the storms; many of the deaths were blamed on falling trees.

Areas of Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California received more than a foot of rain in less than a week.
