The death toll from Tuesday's 7.1 magnitude earthquake has risen to 245.

The death toll from Tuesday's 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico has risen to 245, and the search for survivors continues on Thursday. The quake struck about 70 miles south of Mexico City, causing damage throughout the city and surrounding villages.

By Thursday, 26 bodies had been recovered from the Esquela Enrique Rebsamen primary and secondary school in southern Mexico City, which collapsed due to the quake. 21 of the victims found were children, and rescue efforts continue at the school.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto called for three days of national mourning after the earthquake, which struck on the anniversary of 1985's massive 8.0 quake in the area.
