Photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagreze explained that the cities of Hong Kong are so dense because of the topography. There are many mountains and very few flat areas.

"I love its sheer density, the madness of its streets and the fact that nature is always nearby. The balance between city and nature is something important for me," photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagreze said of Hong Kong in an interview with weather.com.

Photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagreze explained that the cities of Hong Kong are so dense because of the topography. There are many mountains and very few flat areas.

In his collection of images, "The Blue Moment," his love for his home of seven years is apparent. The chaotic cityscapes with buildings of varying heights are shrouded in pastel shadows before darkness falls.


He said that the ideal weather for these photos was a clear day without any mist, just before dark.

To get this effect, Jacquet-Lagreze waited for clear days with no mist in sight. He said they are all shot in the last few minutes before dark.

"I think people hardly can see such scenes outside of Hong Kong," Jacquet-Lagreze said. "So I believe they would be surprised when seeing it."

"I hope they can get a full grasp of the uniqueness of this city, that they can feel the madness of it and also the poetry that emerges from it," he embellished.
