The thrill-seeker has slept on many volcano summits, but this time he was nearly 1,000 feet inside the volcano, close to the glowing lava, which is visible in his photos above.

Horsley climbed the volcano with adventurers Geoff Mackley and Bradley Ambrose. For dinner, the three cooked curry and rice on the volcano's hot rocks.

Not surprisingly, Horsley had trouble falling asleep.

"As it became dark the excitement of beign down there was too great," he told Caters News Agency. "I just kept walking round with my camera and taking photos or shooting video. Soon I calmed and sat listening to Pink Floyd. When I finally decided to call it a night and climbed into my tent, it became quite eerie.  The sense of being alone in a place that possesses such powerful natual energy is quite a feeling."
