Hurricane Irma is on its way to Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas as a Category 5 hurricane. The storm then poses a threat to Florida and parts of the southeastern U.S.

On Wednesday, the storm bared down on the Virgin Islands as well as St. Martin, flattening buildings and bringing destructive wind and rains. Irma cut a path of devastation across the northern Caribbean, killing at least six and leaving thousands homeless
