A multi-car pileup involving approximately 40 cars caused several injuries in Oakland County, Michigan, Saturday, according to the Michigan State Police. The incident occurred on northbound Interstate 75 near Holly Road. Use of the southbound lane of I-75 had to be restricted after there were more collisions due to people checking out the crash in the northbound lane.

None of the injuries were life-threatening and all those injured were transported to local hospitals. There were no fatalities.

Saturday a section of Interstate 90 in Ohio was temporarily shut down between eastbound state routes 615 and 44 due to blizzard conditions. The Lake County Sheriff's Office advised drivers to avoid the area and stay off the road entirely, if possible.

Thursday the wintry conditions made travel dangerous near Ohio's border with Pennsylvania in two separate incidents.

According to the Lake County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred along Interstate 90 southeast of Painesville. Authorities had to shut down both directions of the interstate.

Multiple people were injured in the collision and the roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time while crews work to clean up the wreck.

"This accident on I-90 is becoming a large event with multiple entrapments in vehicles," the sheriff's office said in an update. "Numerous fire and police agencies are responding."

A separate pileup occurred along the same interstate Thursday on the other side of the border. At least 15 people were injured in the incident, which involved at least a dozen vehicles between Exits 9 and 16 near Girard Township, Pennsylvania.

The roadway was closed for several hours.

Injuries from the collision ranged from moderate to severe, but no further details have yet been provided.

In Michigan, at least three people were killed after slippery roads caused a massive pileup involving 30 to 40 cars on Interstate 96. A semi-truck was jackknifed across most of the lanes and about a dozen cars and trucks were in the ditches of the median and shoulder of the road.

Several more dozen cars were smashed but had been able to pull off to the side of the road.
