Creepy Abandoned Schools Photographed by Liz Roll (PHOTOS)

Photographer Liz Roll has documented many abandoned locations across the East Coast and the Mid-Atlantic. Perhaps one of her creepiest collections is that of abandoned schools.

Yellowed report cards, mysterious chalkboard messages and peeling paint are fixtures in Roll's images. Moss and vines grow on the crumbling tiles and damp walls of schools closed long ago. Out-dated technology is left undisturbed.

Roll told weather.com that one of the schools she photographed, Green Bay Elementary School in Green Bay, Virginia, was open during segregation, denying access to African American students. The school served grades one through seven while it was still open.
